Is internet access required for Microsoft 365?

All of the most recent versions of apps and services included in all Microsoft 365 subscription plans must be installed and activated via the internet.
It should be noted that if you already have a membership, you do not need to reload it or get a new one.

Internet access is also required for Microsoft 365 plans in order to manage your subscription account, such as installing Office on additional PCs or changing your billing preferences.
If you don’t install the OneDrive desktop client, you must have an active internet connection in order to access documents stored on OneDrive.

Additionally, if you want to take advantage of automatic upgrades and keep your version of Microsoft 365 current, you need connect to the Internet frequently.
Your apps will enter reduced functionality mode, which allows you to see and print your documents but prevents you from editing them or adding new ones, if you do not access the Internet for at least 31 days.
Simply re-connect to the Internet to reactivate your apps.

Because Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are fully installed on your computer, you don’t need to be connected to the Internet to use them.
