How to delete old emails automatically from cpanel

Q:Is there a setting I can use to have my email server delete emails automatically after X number of days? Can you perform this from the cpanel? Old emails from some email accounts are stacked up on the server.

  • Go to the “Email” area after signing into your cPanel account of Web Hosting.
  • Select the email account for which you wish to configure the retention policy by clicking on “Email Accounts” and then doing so.
  • Click “Manage” next to “Email Disk Usage” in the “Mailbox Quota” section.
  • You can create retention policies to remove emails that are more than a specific number of days old in the “Mailbox Cleanup” section. Additionally, you have the option of deleting emails that exceed a specific size.
  • To put the retention policies into effect after configuring them, click “Save Changes”.
  • Keep in mind that enabling retention policies will permanently delete emails from the server. Therefore, make sure you have a backup of important emails before setting up a retention policy.

Remember that implementing retention policies will result in the server’s permanent deletion of all emails. Therefore, before creating a retention policy, ensure sure you have a backup of any relevant emails.
