How do I create a backup of my website?

Keeping your website regularly backed up is important, especially when planning changes to the site. it is recommended to perform backups yourself.

To start a backup, you will need to log into cPanel.

1. Access cPanel by browsing to http://your-domain-name/cpanel, ensuring to replace ‘your-domain-name‘ with your actual domain

 

2.Login using the details provided in the welcome email

A full backup can be performed from cPanel by completing the following steps.

1. Click on ‘Backup Wizard‘ in the ‘Files‘ section

2.Click ‘Backup

 


3. Select ‘Full Backup

4. Select ‘Home Directory‘ and click ‘Generate Backup‘ to save the file.

5.Once completed your backup will be available in your home directory

A partial backup of website files can be performed from cPanel by completing the following steps

  1. Click on ‘Backup Wizard‘ in the ‘Files‘ section
  2. Click ‘Backup
  3. Select ‘Home Directory
  4.  

4.Click on the ‘Home Directory‘ button to download the backup.

A partial backup of a website database can be performed from cPanel by completing the following steps.

  1. Click on ‘Backup Wizard‘ in the ‘Files‘ section
  2. Click ‘Backup
  3. Select ‘MySQL Databases

4. Click on the database you wish to backup to download the backup.

5.Repeat for each database you want to backup

Once the backup is completed, you can verify this by restoring the backup.
